So you just copied the files into your working copy. These files are not under version control yet. They have no icons.

Or did you right-click and select "TortoiseSVN->Add" ? Thenn the files are under local version control, marked for addition and should have a '+' icon on them.

If they do not show up, they are either:
a) not under version control and you have the "show unversioned files" option unchecked
b) under version control and unchanged

What icon do they have? How does it look like?

It is not in the place that you are looking at.
Just a shot in the wild. Are you sure, that folder in question has the same URL in your WC and in the subversion repository? Maybe you are looking at a different branch online?

If "TortoiseSVN->add" is shown for the folder, it is not under version control yet.

Do you have any global or local ignore patterns defined?
