What do you mean with "bomb"?
Does it crash/segfault or show an error?
If it shows an error, what does the error tell? (please the *exact*
error message).

Word documents usually are scanned by virus scanners on-the-fly. I
wouldn't be surprised at all if your virus scanner would interfere with
svn here and cause the problems.
