Document locked, won't release

I use a personal installation of Subversion to keep track of Microsoft Word
files I edit, using TortoiseSVN as the client. Just to note there's no
remote access; I'm the only one who edits the files.

I have a problem I've never seen before; when I opened a particularly file,
I found it displayed as "read-only". Checking the document icon, it has a
grey tick which indicates that it's locked in Subversion. I don't remember
locking it! :) Anyway, I tried checking the file's TortoiseSVN context menu,
the only option was "Get Lock". For the sake of it, I tried using "Get
Lock", then "Release Lock", but the file stills stays read-only with a gray
tick icon.

Any help appreciated,

P.
