Stefan, I'm not arguing with you, I've 35 years in IT and I've lasted
this long by listening when someone is talking sense.

I've tried several time to import this project into the repos but ALWAYS
as KApps121, there has never been a kapps121 in the repos. However I
admit to using different names for the various failing working copies.

The two K?pps121 entries in the entries file are more likely to be
because I attempted to rename KApps122 to Kapps121 when an entry for
KApps121 was already in that file from a previous dud checkout.

This repository now works fine with two other desktops, but this desktop
is still problematic, at least insofar as I am unable to rename this
project to KApps121 to conform to standard.

The Case problem is obviously relevant, as you say. However on this
desktop I think there's something else awry. As the solution in your
link involves rename and I can't rename that pretty much stops that
avenue of investigation.

Is the 'entries' file is xml and capable of being editted?

No, that won't help at all. No matter what svn client you use, it will
fail as long as you don't correct the problem I mentioned:
