In the tortoise settings External programs, we are using
Diff viewer is external (Beyond Compare)
Merge tool is internal default
Unified diff viewer is internal default.

We changed the Diff viewer to internal and the result was the same.

The subversion configuration file has the helpers section commented.

Hope that answers your question.

Are the patchfiles being produced by svn diff, or another tool?
