TortoiseSVN Merge 1.4.99.11278

I some software that was updated in the trunk that I would like to be
reflected in a branch, but when I try to merge my trunk with a branch, but
keep getting errors in the merge wizard saying '.' is not a working copy.

I have checked out a copy of the branch project to my local machine and am
accessing the merge wizard by right-clicking on the local project. I choose
the branch in the repository as the from and the trunk as the to per the
merge documentation. I then try a test merge and get the error.

Any help would be appreciated.
