The callback functions of subversion currently notify about the file names
after they have been fully transmitted. You would have to ask the
subversion developers to change this and also notify at the beginning of a
file transfer.

We don't add any features to the stable 1.4.x branch, only bugfixes. You
will either need to use a nightly 1.4.99 build or wait for 1.5.0 to be
released.
