The reason we have these files is much the same as you mention, so that
every developer doesn't have to regenerate these files on every build.
However, I think the request for the ability to filter the differences
in a revision comparison goes beyond just convenience for autogenerated
versioned files.

Different stakeholders in a large project have different needs for this
functionality. A configuration manager may need to see what changes are
made to configuration files so that they can be made appropriately to
each environment he's responsible for. A db administrator needs to see
the procedure changes for different dbs made. And tech leads (such as
myself) need to see all changes (but without clutter).

Guess it's a feature request...

To be fair, we do version one class of auto-generated files under TSVN,
and those are the .pot files - the translation source files, which are
auto-generated from xml or rc source files. The reason we version them
is so that translators do not have to have a complete build environment
to create those files themselves.
