Can I configure TortoiseSVN to checkout into existing directory tree?

Hi,

One of the main annoyances that I have with TSVN is its apparent
inability to checkout files into an existing directory tree.

For example, I have a number of macro files etc which are required to
reside in several pre-existing directories within an applications
directory tree.
These files are periodically modified and are thus under revision
control.
When I install the application onto a new PC, I want to checkout the
latest version of these macro files into the applications directory but
I can't.
I always get the error "Failed to add directory 'blah blah" object of
the same name already exists".

Currently, I have to manually copy the .svn directories from a workspace
on another PC, an ugly and error prone process.

So is there anyway to configure TSVN to avoid this problem?

Cheers
