A handy test is to try opening the file in both Notepad and Wordpad, and
see if it looks different. Wordpad supports both LF and CRLF, but
Notepad supports only CRLF, and will run LF-only lines together. So if
you don't have a handy hex editor then this can be a good way to tell
where the problem lies.
