In addition to the fine manual you discovered there is also an FAQ.

I followed the directions above, and am able to browse
a repos. However, when I want to go into a sub-folder,
it asks me for my p/w again, and worse, it asks me 2x.
If I want to go deeper in my dir structure, again, p/w
query 2x.

Note I don't have trouble using straight up command-line
subversion (ie, if I tunnel once, I don't get prompted
for p/w or p'phrase anymore on subsequent commands).
