The date range you can select there is limited to the log messages which
are already fetched and shown. It's a *filter*, not a command to fetch
the log messages.

If you want to fetch the log messages between two dates, use the "Show
All../Show Range..." button at the bottom. Instead of revisions, you can
also enter dates there.
