Thanks for the info, however, I wanted to know if there is a way to disable the
update through the install (ie. customize the MSI through a transform of some
sort)? I do not want to manually uncheck this for every user that runs
Tortoise. Nor would I want to enter the registry key for check redirection for
every user since its in HKCU and not HKLM.

Is there an easier way to do this?
