Install failure (WinXP)

Hi all -
        I've just reinstalled windows XP Professional, upgraded to SP2. I used
a non-standard windows directory (WINDOW1) in order to preserve existing
data.
        When I try to reinstall TortoiseSVN (latest version) the installer
terminates stating that the installer ended because of an error, but it
gives NO indication of what the error was.
        Does anyone know either:

1) Does some problem exist because of the non-standard install of WinXP?

or

2) How I can get the installer to tell me what the problem is?
