Subversion as a backup tool

From: David <dvkeeney_at_gmail.com>

Does anybody have experience using subversion as a complete backup tool, for
backing up a whole machine, or at least a whole drive?

The branching and merging features are of no value (for this application),
and tagging is of modest value, but the diff'ing and economy of transfer
features are great, and the ability to get the latest version of _any_ file
from HEAD is wonderful, as is the no-easy-deletions policy.

I haven't tried this, yet, and suspect there may be unseen pitfalls, so
consequently I am interested in the experiences of anybody who has tried
this.

Thanks in advance
