I guess that would mean that there would have to be two versions of the repository browser. The repository browser (just like the log dialog) is sometimes used as a dialog to provide input to another dialog. For example the target path when branching or merging.

When the repository browser is started "stand alone" it makes sense to have it as a regular application. When it is started by pressing a "..."-button, it makes sense to have it as a dialog.

Perhaps it would be possible to actually have two different versions, much like how the windows explorer and a file open dialog duplicates much of each other's functionality, but one in an application format and one in a dialog format. If it makes sense is another question altogether. :-)
