That's a good idea! I have always thought that the dropdown is sort of hidden, but I have not managed to figure out a better place for it. An additional text in the tool-tip would at least hint of its existence.

Hmm... But maybe you need a specific example for each search option? Especially for dates and date ranges (format etc.). Or on the other hand, maybe not... :-)
