How do I use custom icon folder?

Hello for everybody,

I'm a software developer, and in my job I'm developing an application wich
need use custom icon folders. So, I searched in web and I found some places
explaining it using the destokp.ini file. But, I observed the Tortoise wich
not use these .ini files, but It may still use custom icon folders. How do
you do it?

I appreciate your help.
