vista corrupted after installing latest tortoisesvn

Just got my company replacement laptop, dell
latitude e6400, with vista enterprise OS. After installing tortoisesvn I did a
restart then boom vista can't proceed with the restart giving the error "NTLDR
missing". So I endorsed the laptop to our pc support for reinstallation of the
OS. I asked them to install XP instead.
