It's been there for a long time now, even in 1.5.0.

But: that bug only triggers if the merge itself returns with an error -
and conflicts are not considered a failed merge so it won't return with
an error because of that. So maybe there's another problem with your
merge here (or with your network setup) that makes a merge fail (maybe a
virus scanner blocking a file so the merge can't access a file?).
