Don't we have the same problem by using explorer as UI ?
... and developer of multi-GB project would be used to this fact, his
IDE would have the same problem, and he should split his project.
Hm, I assume a GUI, written by Stefan, would in doubt be faster and more
reliable than Explorer.

My last 2 cents, hopefully. ;-)
