Re: bundling software with TSVN?

Hi,

Since I don't have the time to answer all your mails in this thread
(which may be the biggest ever on this list), I'll summarize it in one:

* many of you suggested other ways to earn money. What you may have
missed is that I'm not desperately seeking to get money out of TSVN. The
only reason I asked was because I was contacted by a company asking for
us including their toolbar, and they would have paid what I would
consider a lot. Maybe not enough to make a living, but still - the offer
was tempting.

* from your answers I get that bundling a toolbar or whatever other
software with TSVN is not what you want. Heck, some of you even took the
opportunity to complain about the ads on our homepage. While I can
understand your aversion to such things, I also know that idealism (open
source) and reality sometimes differ (and you know that too). I
seriously doubt that any one of you would stop watching tv just because
the commercial breaks. We all have to live with those (and some of the
commercials *sometimes* are even funny). (as a side note: our national
tv station isn't allowed to show commercials during shows or break a
show in parts to show commercials - it's always funny to check the tv
guide and see the same movie shown on our station and some private
station with the same start time, but on the private station with an end
time of sometimes an *hour* later :) ) So I know what people will accept
just to get something for free.

* as you may have noticed, I haven't revealed the company or what kind
of toolbar I was offered to bundle (except to Simon and Lübbe). Even
without knowing that, your reaction was sometime pretty hefty. I
honestly never thought people could get so 'excited' about something
they don't even know :)

So, I heard you: I've declined the offer and won't bundle the toolbar
with TSVN.

Stefan
