I'm building TSVN with VS2008 (RTM) without any problems on Vista. Maybe
you should get rid of your beta and install the rtm version?

I've never had that problem.
But I've removed the uac.manifest files from the projects now (they're
not really needed anymore since VS2008 sets the uac manifest itself as
you've noticed).
Try building > r11780
