Activating my blue crystal ball.... Nope. Nothing.

The 2GB mark is only affecting single files, not directories. And only
on non-NTFS filesystems, and only for applications which can't handle
those big files.
I've tried with TSVN committing and checking out a folder with a 2.5GB
file - worked without any problems.

Change the overlay settings to "shell" or "none" instead of "default".
