I also stumbled over the "problem" that a recent commit was not shown in the
log dialog. IMHO it is confusing that the 5 minute timeout is also
effective without the "offline dialog" having been shown.

The lookup of the HEAD revision should only be skipped in the offline mode
The offline mode should only be active if the "offline dialog" has been
previously been shown.

Otherwise we will probably get quite a few user bug reports stating their
commit is not being shown.

Do you mind if I change this, though I don't mind you being faster :-)
