Enhancement Request: "Indexing..." indicator on update dialog

I have run into the case several times where I need to update a very old
working copy, and the update dialog appears to just sit in place and do
nothing, when I assume it's actually indexing the changes that need to be
made before making them. It would be great if there were some sort of
indicator of progress - or at least that something is happening and the
application hasn't hung while indexing.
