Tortoise/SVN makes "Programmers File Editor" crash after file modification

Hello you clever people,

Bug Report TortoiseSVN-1.4.4.9706-win32-svn-1.4.4

--The Problem--
What i am doing:
I have a SVN versioned file opened in Programmers File Editor (PFE), a
text editing application.
Then I open that same file with another application too (say, MS Notepad).
I modify the file with Notepad and save it.
I then click on the file in PFE
As soon as the file in PFE has the 'window focus' an alert pops up asking:
"File C:\Documents and Settings\John\ExampleFile.txt" has been altered
on disk by another application
Do you want to load this new version?
[Yes] [No]"

What i expect to happen
If i press yes - then i expect the newer version to be loaded and used
If i press no - then i expect the file in PFE to remain unchanged

What actually happens
Whichever button i press, a "MS Windows Error Report" dialogue window
pops up asking if i wish to send an error report.
Then PFE closes itself loosing any unsaved data.

Note:
This problem only occurs when modifying SVN versioned files.
e.g If the file being modified is a non-versioned file, it does not crash.

--About My Set Up--
I have been using TortoiseSVN-1.4.3.8645-win32-svn-1.4.3 for a few
weeks now and it has been working fine.
Today, I noticed that it seems to have started to cause my Programmers
File Editor software to crash (see details above).
So, I upgraded to TortoiseSVN-1.4.4.9706-win32-svn-1.4.4
Even after this upgrade the problem persists.
I use MS Windows XP, Media Centre Edition, Version 2002 Service pack 2.
I have recently reset MS windows to do Automatic Updates - so a MS
automatic update may have triggered the problem.
I use Programmers File Editor 32-bit Edition 1.01.00 (The latest version)
