I actually stumbled on this need earlier today as I had to start doing
some reorganization of a semi-huge repository with multiple (related)
projects.

As it is now the support simply isn't there in SVN to do these "sparse
checkouts", and I do not think it would be wise to start adding our own
work around in TSVN.

I ended up using the command-line client to accomplish my task, but even
there I had to abuse SVN a little to get what I wanted.

The right way to approach this would be to offer your help to complete
the sparse-directories SVN branch. It seems like a good and manageable
solution to the problem and I'm sure that TSVN would implement support
for it once it's in the official SVN-package.
