Something seriously wrong in Tortoise SVN.

I've just checked some files in using the latest version of Tortoise SVN, and my project has gone whacko. It's showing every subdirectory as out of sync, zip files in the root directory of the project, which have not been added have red exclamation marks on them, when I try to ignore *.zip, I get an error message

"c:\sw_dev\" is not a working copy
Can't open file "c:\sw_dev\.svn\entries": The system cannot find the path specified.

...actually, the path displayed on the error message isn't even under version control - it's the parent directory where I have seperate directories for various projects.

(I've been using Tortoise SVN on this code base for several months now)
