Get non-svn url error from tortoise, but can access fine using SVN

From: RAS <robert.strickland_at_hughes.net>

Using the Subversion command line, I can access any of the following URLs
fine

svn info svn://mns02/Pisa.Conquest
svn info svn://mns02/Pisa.Conquest/
svn info svn://mns02/Pisa.Conquest/PISA.SolidWorks.root
svn info svn://mns02/Pisa.Conquest/PISA.SolidWorks.root/

(//mns02 is accessed through a VPN connection)

However, if I use the Tortoise SVN Checkout... right click menu from
explorer, then the first URL fails, with the message

Error Non-svn URL passed to svn server: 'svn://mns02/Pisa.Conquest'
Error Check the path and/or URL you've entered.

However, the other three URLs work fine (but only if I am logged on as
administrator).
If I am logged in as a super-user (but not administrator), all four svn
commands work fine, but NONE of the URLs works in the TortoiseSVN checkout
dialog. Any ideas?

I'm using

TortoiseSVN 1.4.1, Build 7992 - 32 Bit , 2006/11/11 09:34:39
Subversion 1.4.2,
apr 0.9.12
apr-iconv 0.9.7
apr-utils 0.9.12
berkeley db 4.4.20
neon 0.26.2
OpenSSL 0.9.8d 28 Sep 2006
zlib 1.2.3

on Windows XP Professional, SP2

Thanks,
Robert Strickland
