FYI, at least on my keyboard, I can currently use
Left Arrow and Right Arrow for prev and next diff,
and SHITF+Left Arrow and SHIFT+Right Arrow for
pref and next conflict.

This isn't so bad... but I don't strongly object
to the changes you propose either.
