There is some space left right of the "Recent messages" button. But of
course you're right that we can't add a button (or whatever) for every
possible custom functionality.

But in that case, the only thing the hook script would get as
information would be the path selected for the commit. When the dialog
isn't shown yet, the status thread isn't started either...

No idea what that would be used for, but yes, we maybe should do that too.

Are you sure you applied for an account? I can't see any pending
requests in the issuetracker. Otherwise: login as guest (as it states on
the top of the page) and then you should be able to add comments.
