We aren't, but re your original argument that work should be done on a
branch and merged to trunk: Someone may do a merge just before you hit
branch. It is then a race condition to see if your branch contains
their merge or not. How is that 'controlled' (as in version control?).
  And this isn't stopping a user from just clicking 'head'.

Using the cmd-line, you would have to specify where to branch from and
to. How about we don't have a default, and force the user to select,
that way it is consistant with the cl, but less useful that what we
currently have IMHO.
