The stable releases of Ankh (0.5) are fairly useless these days. In order to get much of the functionality, or to work with VS2005, you need to use the latest snapshots from the 0.6 branch. I just tried renaming a file in VS 2005 with AnkhSVN 0.6, and it works properly, catching the rename and doing the necessary SVN operations to maintain history.
