Cannot rename repository directory

I've checked through the bug parade and user posts but haven't found
something describing this scenario.

We checked out a working version of a repository to a directory which,
paired with the repository directory structures, causes the filename to
exceed our compiler's limit of 62 characters. In order to remedy this, we
attempted to rename the directory from "Ibis Tek Repository" to "dev" by
using the Windows context menu (right-clicking) and choosing Tortoise SVN ->
Rename (as in screenshot below):

In the dialog, we entered a much shorter name for the directory, "dev", and
hit "OK". But then the following error was displayed:

And if this is simply the result of a newbie blooper, feel free to point
this out as I am a newly reformed CVS user.

Thanks!
