In our case, the computers in question came with Win2K. They have not
been upgraded. As they fail, or processing needs exceed capability,
they are replaced with whatever models our current procurement contract
permits, with the old model then recylced to the next lower rung on the
food chain, usually a processor on the floor. When nobody can use them
anymore, they get donated to some charity here in town.

Developers are actually *not* at the top of the food chain in this
respect, so we don't get the absolute top of the line varieties. I
think the reasoning is that if we don't have the fastest machines in the
building, we won't be developing stuff that won't run on anything else.
