Error on Checkout "The system cannot find the the file specified."

I have a problem with Tortoise SVN when checking out the Linux kernel.
The SVN repository is running on a Linux server and is at version 1.3.0.
The client in question is running on WinXP and is at version 1.3.0
RC2. The check dies with the following message.

Error: In directory 'C:\src\linux-2.6.9\include\linux\netfilter_ipv4'
Error: Can't copy
'C:\src\linux-2.6.9\include\linux\netfilter_ipv4\.svn\tmp\text-base\ipt_tcpmss.h.svn-base'
to 'C:\src\linux-2.6.9\include\linux\netfilter_ipv4\ipt_tcpmss.h.tmp':
The system cannot find the file specified.

Using svn under Cygwin causes it to die on the same file. The version
is 1.2.3-1.

The kernel starting at version 2.6.9 was checked into SVN, and then
tagged at each release. I cannot check out 2.6.9 from Tortoise SVN
without dying with the above error. I can checkout the tree on Linux
without error. This has been verified using svn version 1.1.4, 1.2.4,
and 1.3.0.

Any help or suggestions you can give would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Christopher
