I think Simon was referring to the commits by week&author graph, where the
lines will cross if they are not stacked. When I suggested to implement the
stacked mode there, I also suggested to fill the area between the lines with
the author's colour. Here's a "stacked area" example created with a paint
program. For further improvement I'd suggest to drop the dots at the data
points when the areas are filled.

I'd also make "stacked" mode the default in the "by week" view and "non
stacked" the default in the "by author" view and drop the "stacked" option
on both pages.
