This machine has only had the final version of VS.NET 2005 installed on it.

I've just tried to install the latest nightly on several virtual machines.
It worked as it should: both MFC and CRT got installed properly, as
well as TSVN itself.

So I'm wondering: did you have a VS.NET2005 beta (or any other beta of
that product family) installed? If yes, then that's the problem:
there's some special uninstaller from MS developers available which
*really* removes those betas.

Other than that, I have no idea why this happens on your machine.
