Yes. See Processor type.png

It only appears to occur once on first scan (crawl) of a folder.

Two crawls only appear to occur for folders containing further
revisioned folders.
The crawl recurses into revisioned folders.
Unrevisioned folders are not listed on first scan.

No. Only one. Used Process Explorer to confirm Task Manager list.

Within the first crawl it double crawls all revisioned folder right to
the end.
On subsequent explore of drive, only one crawl per folder and we see all
root folders listed and revisioned ones are recursed into.

Hope it makes sense in conjunction with description.
