We had a long discussion about the German translation on the list as well,
because none of the literal translations of repository "feels right" when
used in German. Things like warehouse, container or storage came up and were
rejected, since most of us felt they sounded like things were moved around
with a forklift (goods storage and retrieval). In the end archive made it,
because most people associate "information storage and retrieval" with it.

Go for something that sounds/feels right, not for a literal or exact
translation.
