The major.minor.micro.release string appears twice in the installer UI. I assume you would like to keep that? Rationale being that user-visible version number should be consistent throughout.

Either way, it's a miniscule change (to just affect the installer internals) that I can do at lunchtime (an hour or so away)... I won't be able to test it here, however. I'd therefore prefer to do it, make a patch, and then send that to someone who has their build environment set up for testing it, since it affects the installer workingness.
