We could use the TAB key, yes. That's configurable. But we can't get rid
of the Enter key triggering the autocompletion. And we can't even
prevent Scintilla from selecting the entries by itself (so you'd first
have to press cursor-down).
Also: if we would use the TAB key (which btw we once had), then you
can't switch to the next control in the dialog anymore with just the
keyboard. And some people take something like that very personal...
