OK, you're right (I've missed the "Show unversioned files" in Commit
dialog). But this option is unchecked by default.

This has a simple answer: "Any file not in ignore list should be committed"
and ignored files should not have any icon.

A final reason:
This icon produces nice collateral effect: if you have anything not
belonging to project, the folder will not show the nice and good green icon.

It's a good practice to have a clean working folder. I've a discussion with
a worker fellow, that insists in put lot of trash in his working folder
(database files, html and so on) I often say: your working may be promptly
deleted since all work is in repository.
