That would work with TMerge if we'd implement it. But what about other
diff tools which can be configured?

But that's exactly what people complained about. Diffing against a
non-existing file (added files don't have a base file yet) works in
TMerge, but not in other diff tools people often use. That's why I have
removed it.

And a dialog popping up would just annoy people - and they would
complain again.
