Everything is a control - including the document region in Word /
notepad etc. Some are custom controls, some are standard. Not sure what
you're trying to say.

> Even though TMerge shows you text, it's not a text editor.

No but it looks like one - which is why it's behaviour confused me.
Honestly - I've been using Windows since version 3.0 so I know how to
select things! If it was even vaguely intuitive - I wouldn't have said
anything :)

It was the fact that you tried to imply the behaviour was intuitive or
standard which annoyed me. It looks exactly like a code editor yet
doesn't behave like one. It's like people who make web links black and
disable underlining and expect 100% of users to realise that you can
click it just because it's in bold.

> It doesn't let you edit the text, so it's more like a control.

Eh?! A textbox lets you edit text and that's a control. Everything the
user can manipulate is a control - by definition of the word "control".

Anyway - now I know how to select text, you've solved my problem. (For
*me* anyway - whether you're worried about future users having the same
problem is up to you). Personally I think clicking and dragging would be
much more intuitive.
