It's nearly as good, but the shell extension can also be loaded into ANY
running application, depending on what OS facilities it's used (the common
file dialog causes the extension to load, as do some of the icon services)

BTW, the 'proper' way to shut Explorer is the following:

Start->Turn Off Computer
Hold down Ctrl-Alt-Shift
Click 'Cancel' on the 'shutdown' dialogue.

But before reporting post-install problems here, people should ALWAYS
reboot, just to be sure.
