Yes, I understand the purpose of this option. Actually, that was
precisely my point -- some (preferred) interface behaviour could lead
to slowdown for certain people in certain cases, so the (obscure?)
option was introduced to turn it off.
Along the same lines, if (preferred) behaviour in case double-clicking
could in some cases lead user to inadvertently initiate a slow
operation, the (less obscure?) option seems in order to turn that
(double-clicking) off.
Anyway, I, as most of the people in this thread, do not have anything
against disabling double-click in revision list, only in file list :-)
