Yes, options are bad... But IMHO this particular option is pretty
innnocent compared to, say, "Use old API to fetch log messages" ;-))
So, since I already have to run and hide in flame-proof bunker anyway,
I think it will be no worse if I propose even more heretic idea:
instead of a single option, make it a whole bunch of options!
That is, for every context menu in the interface create a notion of
"default action" which is invoked if user double-clicks on the
corresponding item. For example, the last option in every context menu
could be "set/change default action".
In the fresh install there should be no default action at all -- to
minimize user surprises. At the same time, those who prefer to have
them, could still easily get them.
