Stefan, I suggest soneone write a relnotes.txt file that explains the
problems people might see:

 * Icons in tree view not updated
 * Update from 1.1 to 1.2 requires special procedure for file://
access to bdb repositories

Regarding the icons in the tree view, I want to repeat my suggestion:
TortoiseCVS can update all the overlay icons using a special menu
command. Why not add such a command to the directory context menu
handler that refereshes all icons? You once said there is a way to
force such a refresh.
I know that might be slow, but such a command might stop people asking
this question.
